Course Description

The goal of this course is to equip municipal staff with an introductory level of knowledge and understanding of infrastructure planning concepts and processes, and what an Infrastructure Master Plan (IMP) is. 


Outline 

  1. Welcome and course overview (5-10 min) 

  2. Overview of infrastructure planning and what an IMP is (10-15 min)
    1. Infrastructure planning drivers. 

    2. Benefits of infrastructure planning.
    3. IMP definition and typical contents.
  3. Introduction to the IMP development process (20-30 min) 

  4. Critical success factors (5-10 min) 

  5. Introduce the IMP Primer (5-10 min) 

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 
    1.    Explain the value of infrastructure planning and what an Infrastructure Master Plan (IMP) is. 

    2.    Describe the process for developing an IMP. 

    3.    Identify and recognize critical success factors for developing an IMP.
