OHS 5067 - Safety in Complex Work Environments (Formerly COHS 4231)
Course Description
Confined spaces and other complex environments can present unusual risks for workers, such as hazardous atmospheres. Emergency response from these environments similarly needs to be carefully thought through before work can begin.
This course is aimed at safety professionals responsible for providing advice and leadership to manage these risks. Participants will develop an ability to assess the risks associated with confined spaces and other complex environments, and to develop, communicate and implement a hazard management program to control these risks.

Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the risks of hazardous atmospheres, access limitations, and emergency response challenges to effectively implement a confined space program.
- Comprehend and apply confined space legislation in Canada.
- Develop, administer, and monitor a comprehensive confined space program, assessing hazards and utilizing the hierarchy of controls.
- Ensure ongoing confined space education and training, and implement evaluations and corrective actions through incident investigations and internal audits.
