Course Description
This course will lay the basic foundation for the Management of the Critically Ill Patient and their families. The learner will as a prerequisite have completed the Pre-course Study Guide and reviewed the following online modules:

- General Assessment
- General Cardiovascular Assessment
- General Neurological Assessment
- General Respiratory Assessment
- General Gastrointestinal Assessment
- General Renal Assessment
- General Pediatric Assessment
- General Geriatric Assessment
- Physical Assessment of Bariatric Patient
- Cardiac Anatomy & Physiology
- 12 & 15 Lead ECG Interpretation
Learner Outcomes
The students will:
- Gain an understanding of the concepts of Critical Care both in the ER and ICU setting.
- Be able to identify and utilize proper assessment techniques when assessing a variety of critically ill patients.
- Be able to identify both theoretical and practical framework for data collection that advanced skills may be added throughout the development of his/her practice in critical care.
- Become knowledgeable relative to the cardiac cycle, the central nervous system’s effect on the heart, and the properties and function of cardiac cells.
- Gain a working knowledge of basic cardiac rhythms and associated nursing responsibilities.

Equipment:
- The learner will require access to a computer and internet connection capable of accessing the online modules and Instructor led online discussions (Zoom).
- This will also require a headset with a microphone.
