Have you recently been promoted to a new position as a manager or supervisor?

Transitioning into a position of authority means many unique challenges, including new responsibilities and skills. This seminar is designed to help you comprehend the challenges and exciting opportunities of making a transition to a leadership role.

What you learn in this class will equip you with a powerful new set of skills, strategies, and techniques for dealing with the issues you may encounter as you take on your new position and move forward in your career.

  • Understand the importance of effective leadership in your new supervisory role
  • Give and receive feedback constructively and effectively
  • Discover what motivates your employees and yourself
  • Distinguish between coaching and counselling employees, and help employees develop skills in both areas
  • Provide strategies to deal with difficult employees
  • Apply active listening skills (e.g. open-ended probes and reflective statements)
  • Identify mistakes supervisors commonly make in performance management
  • Explore appropriate development strategies for different levels of employee performance
