AAC 5000 - Leadership, Governance, & Planning
Course Description
An overview of essential approaches to leadership, governance and planning in the arts and culture sector. Module areas include leadership and being a manager, working with a board of directors, basic legal requirements, and how does one plan effectively today - whether it be risk management, strategic planning or developing and managing a project within a larger structure.
Schedule of bi-weekly Friday live Discussion Sessions from 10-12 noon AT are as follows. Work is to be completed on each module’s content in advance to enable productive group work.
Sept 19: Module #1 - Leadership, Management and Entrepreneurship
Oct. 3: Module #2 – Governance: Legal Structures and Roles of Boards of Directors
Oct. 17: Module #3 - Organization Structures and Roles of Management
Oct. 31: Module #4 – Strategic and Business Planning *This will take place on Thursday instead of Friday, which is a holiday
Nov. 14: Module #5 – Project Management and Evaluation
Nov. 28: Module #6 – Managing Risks, Change and Transitions

Application
Applicants should apply early as enrolment is limited. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and successful applicants will be notified within 4-7 business days of the application deadline (July 21).
Ideally applicants have some post-secondary training and experience in the field of arts and culture, at an organizational level. This certificate is open to all Canadian applicants.
Application deadline: July 21, 2025 (Apply early; limited enrolment).
Eligibility: Open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents with some post-secondary training and work experience in arts and culture.
Tuition: $2,600 total.
Bursary: $1,000 available for eligible New Brunswick participants.
