This course provides an introduction to health and safety program development. It includes a presentation and overview of the main elements required and the factors influencing the success of health and safety.

Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Define the purpose and outline the jurisdictional coverage of occupational health and safety (OHS) in Canada.
- Compare early vs. modern beliefs about incident causation and detail the purpose of OHS law.
- Differentiate between hazards and risks, and identify common workplace hazards.
- Explain and apply risk control methods, assessing their effectiveness in hazard management.
- Describe the processes and tools for reporting, investigating, and measuring incidents, including the differences between audits and inspections.
- Discuss communication strategies and outline programs for health, disability, and environmental management in OHS.
