OHS 5053 - Fundamentals of Environmental Management (Formerly COHS 3320)
Course Description
Environmental management is often part of the role that health and safety practitioners are asked to take on. Environmental management is critical to workers, organizations, and the environment itself. This course introduces the subject of environmental management and will help learners to identify, evaluate and communicate issues related to workplace environmental and global environmental conditions and to plan and implement strategies to mitigate environmental harm.

Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand major past environmental disasters and their global impacts.
- Define environmental law, distinguish sources of legislation, and understand Canada's institutional frameworks.
- Explore and compare environmental management system standards, including design considerations for development.
- Explain environmental auditing processes and the components essential for effective audits, along with the management review process.
