Course Description
Health and safety professionals often work within complex workplace structures providing specialized technical support to their employers. Successful health and safety leaders understand corporate organization and function and can incorporate that understanding into the recommendations they provide to corporate leadership for approval. This course provides an introduction to corporate leadership and organization and helps learners understand the structure and organization of their workplaces so that they can make more focused and valued contributions to health and safety program design and management.

Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand organizational design elements and their relationships.
- Identify characteristics and strengths of organizational structures.
- Explain the importance of business metrics in organizational design and their role in defining standards.
- Outline the management functions, people practices, and external regulatory environment in Canada.
- Describe the evolution of management and leadership theories, including the importance of programs, policies, and procedures.
- Discuss and implement best practices for leadership, employee engagement strategies, and conflict resolution techniques.
