MGT 2007 - Coaching Skills for Managers (Formerly CCME 1101)
Course Description
Coaching is not about discipline or poor performance. It’s an approach a manager uses to assist employees in developing behaviours that enable the employee to achieve their full potential.
This course equips you with essential coaching skills by exploring the necessity of coaching knowledge for managers, understanding the manager's role as a coach, and reviewing various coaching tools to influence behavior. It also provides a structured coaching model and delves into sustaining coaching relationships and troubleshooting common coaching challenges.
This course can be taken on its own or as an elective in the Certificate in Management Essentials program.
The completion of this course qualifies IPMA-Canada members to receive five (5) recertification points.
Course Outline
This course requires approximately 15-18 hours of student engagement.
Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Develop and implement coaching strategies effectively.
- Adopt a structure-coaching model to improve employee coaching.
- Support employees through the use of coaching support skills such as the four stages of learning, work-life balance, and goal setting.
