MGT 2017 - Supporting Mental Health at Risk (Formerly CCME 1111)
Course Description
This course equips managers with strategies to support and enhance employee mental health in the workplace. It focuses on protecting human capital by promoting psychological well-being and providing support for those facing mental health challenges. You will learn to prevent psychological injuries and understand key legal and safety standards, including addressing addictions and implementing the 13 factors of the national standard on psychological health and safety.
Through practical insights and tools, managers will learn how to create a psychologically safe workplace and effectively support employees with mental health issues, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.
This course can be taken on its own or as an elective in the Certificate in Management Essentials program.
The completion of this course qualifies IPMA-Canada members to receive five (5) recertification points.
Course Outline
This course requires approximately 15-18 hours of student engagement.
Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand mental health and illness, including the cost of mental health on productivity and the benefits of maintaining a healthy mental state among employees.
- Successfully implement the 13 factors of psychological health and safety to create a healthy and productive workforce.
- Improve workforce productivity by protecting an employee’s psychological safety and well-being.
