Course Description

Please read: To take this course, you must have successfully completed Grade 11 Physics. If you have not completed Grade 11 Physics but consider yourself a strong Math student, you can be successful in this course. Be prepared to work and study hard, and use all additional resources provided to you.

This non-credit interactive course is intended to prepare students for university level physics courses. This course is fast-paced and takes place over 12 weeks. Assessment includes (but is not limited to) weekly quizzes, a mid-term, and final exam.

Topics include:

Vector Analysis; Conservation of Momentum; Projectiles; Circular Motion; Simple Harmonic Motion; Universal Gravitation; Electric Circuits; and, Magnetic, Electric and Gravitational Fields.

The textbook is mandatory, and students must have it on the start date of the course. The textbook is available through OpenStax.

This course is delivered entirely online via Desire2Learn (D2L) and Microsoft Teams. Students must have access to a computer, microphone and speakers, or a headset. Students will be required to participate in a live, interactive session to take place one evening per week for the duration of the course.

Withdrawals and refunds:

  • Withdrawal within the first week - refund of full course fee paid less $50 administration fee
  • Withdrawal after completion of the first week - no refund
