Course Description

A crisis is any situation that is outside the realm of normal that requires a response. Crises can take all forms. For example, bullying is a crisis for a victim. In a fast-paced world, managers are well-served in having the basics in crisis management, understanding the need to protect employee psychological well-being, and employer obligations to employees.

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to crisis assessment, guiding you through the distinct features of various types of disasters. It presents a detailed model for responding to crises effectively and equips you with additional tools to navigate critical situations adeptly. Designed for those looking to enhance their crisis management skills, the course provides practical insights and strategies to prepare for and address emergencies confidently.

NOTE: The contents of this course are intended to assist you in engaging in problem-solving and decision-making in preparation for and during a crisis. It is not intended to be considered as legal, medical or psychological advice.

This course can be taken on its own or as an elective in the Certificate in Management Essentials program.

The completion of this course qualifies IPMA-Canada members to receive five (5) recertification points.
